So why would Pittsburgh heavy hitters like Art Rooney II, David Morehouse, and Dave Malone direct thousands of dollars toward a little-known, 3-year UPMC business analyst running in a state House race? When that analyst is the little brother of the mayor.
Adam Ravenstahl, 25, raised $57,000 for his debut political run this spring, in the election to replace Judge Don Walko in the state House. More than $28,000 of that came from political action committees, including a loan of $10,000 from brother Luke's mayoral PAC and a straight-up $10,000 gift from Steamfitters Local #449.
He got another $23,000 in large contributions from 22 corportate, development, financial and sports industry supporters of his brother.
Besides those above, the names include former ICA board member Bill Lieberman, Alco Parking's Merrill Stabile, Duquesne Light's Morgan O'Brien and developer James Scalo (he of the Seven Springs condo). Malone, Lieberman and O'Brien are also members of the mayor's pension/parking garage sale study panel.
