Mayor Luke Ravenstahl today released a video on behalf of Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" project to address bullying of lesbian/gay/bi/transgender teens. (See our post on Savage's comments about Rick Santorum while at Pitt last week.)

Ravensthal mostly addresses the bullying aspect (saying he was targeted in high school) and never utters the words "gay" or "lesbian," instead mentioning the LGBT Advisory Council he created in 2009. "Stick with it, make sure you continue to do what you're doing, and don't get discouraged," he says.

Here's the message posted with the video below from YouTube:

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl joins the "It Gets Better" project. With words of encouragement, the Mayor and the City recognize the contributions of the LGBT community in making Pittsburgh "America's Most Livable City".

Mayor Ravenstahl ensures the LGBT community is welcome in Pittsburgh, where there are numerous supportive groups and citizens, including the Mayor's own LGBT Advisory Council.
