President Barack Obama, in a rare long-form news conference this afternoon, promised a full and detailed response on the alleged job offer to Rep. Joe Sestak to get him out of the Senate race and added "I can assure nothing improper took place."

"There will be official responses shortly on the Sestak question, which I hope will answer your questions," Obama said during a White House news conference that focused mostly on the oil spill. "You will get it from my administration, and it will be coming out shortly. And when I say shortly I don’t mean weeks or months."

The issue has escalated in the past week since the primary, as Republicans have used it as a line of attack against Sestak and Obama. Both the administration and Sestak have been vague about the details of the alleged offer.
