From Rich Lord:

Extremely alert readers may have wondered: What ever happened to Pittsburgh Council Finance Chair William Peduto's effort to unite Pennsylvania's cities behind a common urban agenda? The drive continues tonight when the councilman speaks before Butler City Council, a trip that the councilman portrays as the first in a summer tour of urban centers.
From Mr. Peduto's energetic office:

Peduto Seeks Statewide Support for Reform

Councilman to Speak to Butler City Council About Partnership

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh City Councilman William Peduto will address Butler City Council tonight in an effort to create a new partnership in fighting for statewide municipal reform. In January of this year, Councilman Peduto wrote the leaders of Pennsylvania’s 56 cities to seek a statewide partnership in fighting for reforms in taxation, pension, and health care.

The letter stated in part, “the City of Pittsburgh, like most aging Pennsylvania communities, faces an uncertain economic future. As the Finance Chairman of Pittsburgh City Council, I have had first-hand experience in seeing how present state policies on taxation, pension, and healthcare are destroying Pennsylvania cities. Pittsburgh is trying to balance a budget, while the number of commuters coming into the City to work every day grows, the amount of land owned by non-profit institutions continues to expand, and pension and healthcare payments continue to increase. We are left with an aging infrastructure, increasing legacy costs, and a dwindling tax base. Pennsylvania’s tax structure is fundamentally broken.”

In response to the letter, over 20 cities voiced support for a joint partnership. The City of Butler has asked the Councilman to address the City Council about opportunities to cooperate on these issues. Peduto plans to visit other cities throughout the summer.
