Gov. Ed Rendell is in sunny Washington today to advocate along with labor leaders for the tax extenders bill that Congress is trying to pass this week before it heads off for Memorial Day. The bill includes a bunch of jobs programs and things but also FMAP -- matching Medicare Medicaid funds to states that Rendell and about 30 other governors have already factored into their 2010-11 budgets. And the last thing Pennsylvania's budget needs is another hole.

Rendell will be joined by labor leaders for a 1 p.m. news conference in the Capitol. Stay tuned to post-gazette.com and check out tomorrow's dead tree edition for more.

Updated to reflect my stupid Medicare/Medicaid error.
