Schenley Park tea party

Mark up another setback, however minor, for Tea Party enthusiasts.

In February, local Tea Party organizers had to cancel their first anniversary party due to the massive snowfall. Now, along with similar groups nationwide, the Pittsburgh Tea Party Movement has scheduled a noon rally on tax day, April 15, where it held its very first rally in 2009 -- in Market Square. From the official Facebook page:

Date:
Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Time:
12:00pm - 1:15pm
Location:
Market Square
Street:
Forbes and Market Street
City/Town:
 Pittsburgh, PA

Nearly 2000 cities across the country have confirmed Tea Parties scheduled for April 15th. Over a million people nationwide will be protesting the excessive government spending on tax day!! Please join us in Pittsburgh!!

We have tightened the event to a little over an hour since many of the attendees are working people who will be squeezing this into their lunch hour.

Jim Quinn from the talk show "Quinn and Rose" will be our Emcee for the event!!

Only problem? Market Square is closed. The entire inside of the four acre Downtown square is surrounded by cyclone fencing as workers feverishly try to complete its renovation by June. We've asked the movement's lead organizer if another site has been picked (other rallies have been held in the North Side and Schenley Park) but we haven't heard back.

UPDATE: Comment below says the event is in Mellon Park.

Tax day rallies are being held in most major cities statewide -- a full list of events in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and elsewhere is here.

Tea Party Homeless

The April 15, 2010 Tea Party has never been scheduled for Market Square. It is scheduled for noon at Mellon Square in downtown Pittsburgh. Jim Quinn has never been scheduled to be the MC. He will be in Cleveland at another Tea Party at the College he attended. Rose Tennent will speak and other great speakers will partic**ate. Glen Meakem will give the Keynote address.
