Mike TurzaiAnother scourge of Harrisburg (along with bloated pensions) is the use of hefty per-diems for food and lodging. The anti-Tom Corbett site CasablancaPa did a post Sunday on the $32,000 in per-diems new House Majority Leader Mike Turzai took in 2007-2008, with more than $11,000 of the total coming on days the House wasn't in session.

In addition the Bradford Woods Republican often got food reimbursements from a taxpayer-funded "contingency fund" on some of the same days he collected per-diems, in a couple cases charging more than $200 for lunch/dinners on top of a $148 per-diem.

The anonymous site backs up the findings with documentation here and here.
