Jan Murphy at the Patriot-News has a rundown on the pricey retirement packages outgoing state lawmakers like Bob Mellow and John Perzel are getting, which includes $330,915 yearly for the former Senate Democratic Leader. (Mellow served 39 years and entered the Legislature before 1974, when benefit packages were even more bloated.)

Tim Potts is always interviewed for these things, but he couldn't be more correct here:

“If they took care of citizens of Pennsylvania as well as they take care of themselves, we’d be in nirvana,” said Tim Potts, co-founder of Democracy Rising PA, a government reform group.
