Last night's Daily Show with Jon Stewart did a segment about Democratic candidates running away from Obama and Pelosi -- and used our very own Rep. Jason Altmire, D-McCandless, as a prime example. (Thanks to 2 Political Junkies for pointing out the clip.)
"That's why you see so many Democrats running ads proudly touting their party's accomplishments," Stewart says as a lead-in to a series of ads distancing themselves from the Democratic leaders. Altmire's clip, from his first ad, shows a guy saying "I like that Jason Altmire is not afraid to stand up to the president." And a woman chimes in "And Nancy Pelosi."
"Holy [beep]," Stewart says after the montage is finished. "Those are the ads Democrats are running? What ads are the Republicans running?" Then he cuts to a spoof ad in which a man declares "Vote for me and I'll punch President Obama in the balls."
The video is here. Part in question comes in around the 6-minute mark.
