The Attorney General's office was busy in two days in March -- it won its latest convictions in the Bonusgate probe (sending Mike Veon to jail) on 3/22, and the next day it joined 13 other state AG's offices in suing to block health care reform, just seven minutes after Obama signed the federal legislation.
At a Harrisburg news conference March 23 Tom Corbett rejected suggestions that his decisions on either issue were tied to his run for governor, and his chief media strategist John Brabender told the P-G, "I can tell you now that we will not be talking about Bonusgate -- ever -- in the governor's race."
Fast forward to the Corbett campaign's new general election ad, which pictures Dan Onorato, Ed Rendell and smoke-filled rooms, and has this statement from the AG: "When I announced my pledge that as governor I would oppose all new tax increases, the response from the politicians was quite predictable. . . The politicians were just as skeptical when I promised to fight corruption in Pennsylvania, and boy, were they wrong."
