A new Rasmussen poll out today shows Pat Toomey ahead of Joe Sestak in the Senate race, 45-39. The poll shows the race tightening somewhat from a Rasmussen survey from two weeks ago showing Toomey with a nine-point lead and is the same figure Rasmussen had in July. Margin of error is 4 points.

A few interesting numbers to take out of this. One that's very good news for Sestak: Among voters who regard the economy as the most important issue, he leads 48-40. Some figures that don't look good for the Admiral: He's viewed very unfavorably by 21 percent, with 15 percent having a very favorable view. Toomey, meanwhile, is viewed very favorably by 22 percent of voters and very unfavorably by 12 percent.

That could be a sign that Toomey's early ad blitz is working at defining Sestak and a big reason why Sestak has decided to hit back starting today.
